In addition to (scorekeeper) Jennifer Odum's e-mail forwarded to Joe:
This particular game, far too many players were overly & consistently vocal. Personally, my mindset was this league encountered a season-full of average officials during the CIF period. I thought it would be best to give that level of talented players the benefit of most doubts regarding verbiage. However the verbal outbursts during live play by too many players on both sides had reached a tolerable ceiling.
#45 Black | ᴬWarned; ᴮAsked to sit to cool off for 3-mins, and continued to with negative comments. c/Received a "T".
#5 Red | ᴬWarned for jawing at both refs: ᴮUltimately rec'd a "T".
#5 Red | c/After sitting, he did return and apologized for his continued verbiage.
After several warnings, and technicals, I stopped the game and adamantly informed each team: THE NEXT PLAYER FROM EITHER TEAM WHO VERBALLY DISPUTES A CALL IS SITTING 3-MINS... PERIOD.. FAIR, and a shoulder shrug.
Game continued, and at least (3) players that complained out loud were told to sit.. No technicals, simply sub and continue play.. That was the solution as Captains were not displaying leadership to get these guys to zip up their thoughts.
After the final horn, the video will reveal that the refs & scorekeeper exited the gym in about 20-30 seconds thereafter to avoid verbal discussions. #5 Red (who received a technical earlier) made a demonstrative move to follow Ace/Eddie/Jennifer outside the building, and loudly verbalize and with a quick pace to convey demeaning verbiage.
"You guys are the worst fucking refs I've ever seen"
"I bet you guys don't even work CIF"
"Now I know who you are"
And on that note, I choose not to work Grijalva for the remainder of this season. This player followed us out the building and now knows our cars as he watched all of us drive off. It would be interesting to know if he drives a Lexus SUV.

This was a highly competitive game that included both upgraded Intentional fouls, and Technical fouls levied against both teams, along with Rule clarifications that were provided to the players per their request.
After the FINAL HORN, while me the Referee was still in the visible confines of the court. Player #2 from the "White team" approached me as the Official, and knocked the ball out of my hands intentionally and disrespectfully. At which time he was ejected from the game, which by rule is the proper thing to do, and is permissible being that the official present and observing. The game is not CONCLUDED until the official has left the court and/or the visible confines of the floor/gym/arena.
I TURNED AWAY, and headed to the Scorers table to reported the ejection and instructed the scorer to mark the score sheet accordingly.... While doing so this same player#2; Followed me to the scores table and began to utter. "You're a b****, you're a b**** .....etc" As he kept approaching me. I replied "Don't come over here or you're gonna get hurt" He continued over and got in my face and said "do something, then do something, do something then" Multiple times.
I refrained from any physical contact at that time. I solely just stood my ground.
Players then came to separate us. I remained at the table, the player went to his bench, continuing to utter disrespectful remarks directed at me, my response was "just go somewhere"He then returned to the table again. And then got in my face again......So this is the third time that this player has approached me.
We were again separated.
That was the conclusion of the occurrence.
