Neil, I apologize for the affairs wo/the scorekeeper on 4/30/24. A player had a grudge against Enrique Marban and it would be gracious to have your honest viewpoint on what took place.. Your partner will not view this report. Thank you for your attention of this matter. -Ace-
REFEREE RESPONSE
Response From Enrique:
After the game a losing team player demanded 1/2 half of the ref fees back. He said they only pay half with 1-Ref. I told him that we could not give him any back right now and told him to talk to the City staff that he deals with. I think he mentioned the name "JOE". He asked us for our name and we gave it to him.
He started to complain about my scorekeeping. I made an error in the 4th quarter and it was corrected. I explained to him that I don't normally scorekeep, and to once again talk to the City staff. When he walked away he cursed at me about me learning how to my f-word job.
I walked to his bench and told him in respectful manner that there was no need to curse at me. I told him that I had not been respectful to him and I was an adult, not his kid. I reminded him that I am a referee, not a SK.
He then again said that I was a shitty ass scorekeeper. I then replied using an explicit (F-U ) back to him. Just letting you know in case he reports it. As I told him. I am a grown man and explain the circumstances in a respectful manner. After he cursed the first time, I still approached him respectfully and let him know not to curse. When he curses at me a 2nd time, I feel he no longer deserves my professional etiquette, esp bc he is doing it after the game is over and there are no consequences. Let me know if you need any additional money back from me. I don't have a problem. END OF REPORT

After the final game, the losing team CAPT approached Enrique and asked for a 1/2 game fee back bc only 1 ref officiated. He specifically said Joe told him that he would only have to pay 1/2 the game fee if there is 1-Ref.
Enrique, in a calm manner, asked him to take it up w/ Joe. He didn't like that answer and responded in colorful words that Enrique was not a good SK. With a little calm back/forth banter, the CAPT walked away to his bench telling Enrique to F-off and telling him he sucked as a SK and to F-off again. Enrique didn't take the response too kindly and followed him to his bench telling him to be a little more respectful, with some words of his own. I was telling Enrique to leave it alone. He eventually did, walked back to table, picked up stuff and left the gym.
